Week 8 in review
Osasuna continued their fantastic start to the season with a 3-0 win away against Alavés on Friday evening, as week 8 got underway. Los Rojillos were 2-0 up by half time, thanks to goals from Nacho Vidal and Oier, before a Roberto Torres goal in the second half ensured the visitors registered their 4th win of the season.
The Sunday lunchtime game saw hosts Granada just edge out Getafe in a 3-2 thriller, in a match which saw all five goals coming in an action packed first half. Next into action were Cádiz, who crashed 4-0 at home against Real Sociedad, with in form Alex Isak grabbing 2 for the visitors, who currently sit 5th in the table. The biggest game of the day was undoubtedly the Madrid derby, which hosts Real Madrid triumphed 2-0 against neighbours Atlético, with Eden Hazard and Toni Kroos doing the damage before Luka Modric was then sent off in the closing stages. Former Chelsea star Hazard now has 5 goals from 7 games so far this season for the current league holders. Eibar dropped to the foot of the table after finding themselves 2-0 down at home to Real Betis after just 20 minutes, eventually losing 2-1, while Celta Vigo won away at Elche by the same scoreline, coming back from 1 down after 5 minutes to record their first win to haul themselves off bottom spot, leapfrogging Eibar.
Lucas Ocampos scored the only goal of the game as Sevilla beat Athletic Bilbao 1-0 at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, while the matches between Valladolid v Barcelona, and Villarreal v Levante both ended goalless. The result for Barcelona means they now sit just one point clear again at the top of the table, with the impressive Valencia once again hot on their heels after their 3-0 home win against Huesca, while Real Madrid sit in third courtesy of goals, sitting on level points with the overperforming Osasuna.Share this:
