Week 10 in review

Valencia remain top of the league despite being held to a 1-1 draw against Osasuna. Uruguayan striker Maxi Gómez late penalty miss saw the current leaders miss out on all three points, but with Barcelona not in action this weekend the draw was enough to see them move 2 points clear at the top, Osasuna remaining 4th after the draw.
The weekend began as Atlético Madrid needed a Yannick Carrasco strike to secure a slender 1-0 win at home to Valladolid on Friday evening before rivals Real Madrid got Sunday’s action off to a flyer with a 4-0 rout away at Huesca, who find themselves firmly rooted in the bottom 3. Next up in action were Athletic Bilbao, who handed Villarreal their first defeat in 8 games thanks to goals from both Raúl and Dani García in the second half.
Real Betis sit 8th after a 1-0 win over Cádiz, while Levante and Alavés played out a 1-1 draw, Valencian side Levante still finding themselves in the bottom 3. The final game on Sunday saw Elche score deep in injury time through Gonzalo Verdú to secure a vital 3 points away against Getafe, the win seeing Elche move above them in the table.

Week 10 ended on Monday evening as Celta Vigo handed Eibar another defeat to keep them bottom of the table. A Santi Mina goal in the first half saw the Basque side suffering their 7th defeat of the season, finding themselves with just 5 points on the board after 10 games.
