Valencia handed away trip to Zaragoza
League leaders Valencia have been handed an away tie against Zaragoza in the fourth round of the Copa Del Rey, following their comfortable win against Pontevedra in the 3rd round. The 2018/19 winners will travel to face the Segunda División side, who are currently managed by former Valencia midfielder Rubén Baraja, hopeful of continuing their progress in this season’s competition, against the side who currently sit second in the table, hopeful of returning to La Liga for the first time since 2013, when they were relegated after finishing bottom of the table. The side from Aragon cruised through the first round with a 4-0 win away against CD Bala Azul, before facing a tougher tie against Las Palmas in the second round, a Joel Arimany goal proving the difference in a 1-0 win at La Romareda. They needed extra time to reach the fourth round, Gabriel Fernandez scoring with just a minute left to play to overthrow fellow Segunda side CD Mirandés last time out.
Elsewhere there are 4 all top-flight ties, with Granada facing Alavés and Celta Vigo hosting Osasuna, while Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao, yet to complete last season’s final, face Getafe and Villarreal respectively. There are easier ties, on paper at least, for Real Madrid, who travel to Barcelona to face Espanyol, while Barcelona themselves face Sporting Gijon, and finally Mallorca host Atlético Madrid.Share this:
