International round-up (Part 7)

It was a dream return to International football for Portuguese winger Gonçalo Guedes as he scored both goals in a 2-0 victory over Scotland in ta World Cup qualification game in Lisbon. The 24 year old, making his 26th appearance for his country, had only recently returned for club side Valencia following a knee injury suffered back in January, so he was delighted to start leading the line for his national team, the same position he has filled at the Mestalla in recent weeks. Both goals for Guedes came in the first half, before he was eventually substituted with 15 minutes remaining.
Another among the goals this international window as midfielder Yunus Musah. The American international grabbed his first ever goal for the US Men’s National team in a 2-0 win over Honduras, grabbing the opener before Christian Pulisic confirmed the victory late on. Fellow midfielder Carlos Soler made his debut for Spain in a 3-0 win over Luxembourg, the 24 year old midfielder being handed the start for his first ever cap.
On loan Joshua Zirkzee was another winner as he scored in a 3-1 win for the Netherlands Under-21’s against Albania, while Lee Kang-In featured in a 3-0 win against Myanmar, although he failed to find the target for his country. Valencia youngsters featured heavily once more for the Spanish Under-21’s, who drew 1-1 with their Belgian counterparts, with Jesús Vázquez the stand out performer of the youngsters, while in the Under-19’s Martin Tejón had a great game in a 3-0 win over Slovakia, setting up 2 of the 3 goals for his side. Finally, recent arrival Nicolás De La Cruz also had a stand out performance in a 1-1 draw with Chile.
