Vieirinha follows Kang-In to London

Just a day after the announced departure of youngster Lee Kang-In, the club also confirmed that veteran utility player Vieirinha would also be heading across to England, to join Championship side QPR for next season. The former Portuguese international only joined Valencia in October last year, making the switch from Greek side PAOK. Although appearances were limited, his experience around the squad was definitely of benefit as the club lifted both the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super copa, while narrowly missing out on a league title.
Vieirinha, now 35, made just 1 start in La Liga for Valencia, with another 8 appearances coming from the bench, as well as 2 starts in the successful cup campaign for the club, adding to an already impressive list of palmares the former Porto man can boast of. With playing time become increasingly limited, and the club looking to promote several youth players into the first team squad for the coming season, it was felt a move for Vieirinha would be best for both parties. Several clubs around Europe initially showed interest in the squad player, who is equally comfortable anywhere down the left or right, but it was QPR who made the first concrete bid, thought to be around £250k. Following an initial delay, while the club applied for, and were successfully granted, a work permit, the move was eventually confirmed to the media, with Vieirinha joining fellow compatriot Pedro Marques at the London club.
