Vallejo hits 5 in cup rout
On-loan Villarreal forward Manu Vallejo was undoubtedly the star of the show in the first round of the Copa Del Rey, as he helped himself to 5 goals for his new side in a 9-0 drubbing of San Isidro. The 23 year old, on loan for the season with a potential permanent move on the cards, grabbed his first 18 minutes in with his side already 2-0 in front, opening the scoring in the first minute of the match. He added another two before the break, including one from the spot, as visitors Villarreal found themselves 5-0 up at the break against the semi-professional side. The second half was a similar affair, with 2 more from Manu Vallejo, who found himself out of favour at league leaders Valencia before agreeing the switch to El Submarino Amarillo, before Carlos Bacca completed the demolition with another penalty late on.
Hat-tricks from both Borja Bastón and Juan Muñoz saw fellow la liga side Leganés also cruise into the second round, the unfortunate Totana the victims in this game, eventually crashing to a 7-0 defeat. There were few shocks in the first round, with all the favourites going through, many with convincing victories including a 5-0 win for Eibar, and 4-0 victories for Granada, Valladolid, Sevilla and Getafe among others. The biggest shock was probably the slender 1-0 victory for semi-pro Urraca against Segunda Divison B side San Fernando.Share this:
