Argentinian arrives from Estudiantes
Valencia continued to boost their squad ahead of the new season as they completed another free transfer, this time the arrival of promising Argentinian Darío Sarmiento. The 18 year old attacking midfield player arrives from Estudiantes, who he initially joined way back in 2009 as a child. His senior debut came at the tender age of just 16 years old, as he was handed a start by former Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito, coming off the bench back in October 2019 in a 0-0 draw. His appearance in that game, against Huracán, made him the second youngest debutant in the clubs history, a clear indication of how highly he was rated in La Plata.
He went on to make a total of 8 appearances in his breakout season with the club, immediately attracting the attention of several big clubs across Europe. He also earned success with his country at Under 16 level, and has made progress through the youth ranks with Argentina, although a move to one of the big five leagues in Europe is bound to increase his chances of now earning full international recognition in the coming seasons. As a non-EU player, it will be interesting to see what plans the club have for him in the coming season.Share this:
