Correia heads to Vigo in permanent deal

The latest transfer dealings at Spanish side Valencia saw young fullback Thierry Correia make a permanent switch to fellow La Liga side Celta Vigo. The young Portuguese full back, who can play on either side, made the switch in search of first team football, while Valencia, who finished second in La Liga last season after leading for most of the campaign, will be boosted by another cash injection following their poor financial situation. The 22 year old, who originally joined for over £10 million from Sporting a few seasons ago, made a total of 5 starts during the league campaign, with another 10 coming from the bench, mainly featuring on the left hand side when required, but struggling to force his way into Barlow’s first team plans. He also made several starts for the B team during the campaign, as he struggled to oust José Gaya from the starting line up. Although Valencia are taking a significant loss on their investment, it is to be expected in the current financial climate following the pandemic, and they have also agreed to a 20% profit on any future deal for the Under 21 international. His new side, Celta Vigo, finished last campaign in 15th place and will be looked for an improved campaign this time out.
